No. 7 Blue Devils take on Boston College in Durham


DURHAM- The seventh-ranked men’s soccer team returns to Koskinen Stadium for ACC action on Saturday night following a 1-0 non-conference win over Elon on Tuesday night. No. 7 Duke (5-0-1, 1-0-1) takes on Boston College (2-2-3, 0-1-1) at 7 p.m., and fans can watch the game live on ACC Network Plus.


  • Duke and Boston College meet for the 16th time overall on Tuesday night, with the Blue Devils trailing the series 7-8-0.
  • Duke defeated the Eagles in their last game by a score of 3-2 at Koskinen Stadium on September 21, 2018.


  • Boston College has finished its last two games with ties and currently has a season record of 2-2-3.
  • The Eagles rallied to tie No. 25 Louisville 1-1 in their ACC final on Sept. 16 and played to a scoreless tie against local foe University of Boston on September 20.
  • Boston College is 0-1-1 in ACC play after losing its conference opener by a score of 2-1 to then No. 1 Clemson on Sept. 10.


  • Duke picked up its fifth win of 2022 by beating Elon 1-0 in a road contest at Rudd Field.
  • Phoenix, who won votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll, faced seventh-placed Blue Devils in the opening 45 minutes without a goal.
  • Shakour Mohammed scored his third game-winning goal of the season when he netted a 20-yard free kick in the 57th minute for the only goal of the contest.


  • This will be the first meeting between Duke and Boston College since the 2018 season.
  • The Eagles were not part of the Blue Devils ACC schedule in 2021, which resulted in a longer than normal period between matchups.
  • Duke will be looking to pick up four wins in the last five attempts over the span of 2013-2022.



– The number of stitches Shakour Mohammed has accumulated in the Blue Devils’ first six games of 2022. He leads the team and is three points away from matching his production of 2021 (13).

4 – Goals for Mohammed, a new career high. The second converted from a free-kick against Elon on September 20 to surpass his goalscoring tally in 2021.

1 – Mohammed ranks first in the ACC and is tied for first nationally in game-winning goals in 2022 with three of six games.

6 – The current unbeaten streak to start the season for Duke, the most successful start for the Blue Devils with John Kerr at the bar. Duke had already started a five-game unbeaten season in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

5 – Aid for Nick Pariano, a team summit. He registered two assists against Louisville, the first time a Duke player has registered two or more assists in a game since Cameron Kerr did so against Wake Forest in November 2021.

3 – Consecutive ACC openers won by Duke after the Blue Devils beat Louisville 2-1 on Sept. 10.

62.8 – Goal percentage in 2021 of returning players this season. By losing Thorleifur Ulfarsson 15 goals, the team scored 27 from returning players this year.

2 – ACC award winners return from last season. Reigning ACC Midfielder of the Year Peter Stroud and ACC Freshman of the Year Mohammed are both back in action for another campaign.

45 – Consecutive seasons in the Duke Men’s Football Program with at least one All-ACC winner. The team has had at least one every season since 1976.
