Libby Mayne of Spalding Academy was crowned our High School Student of the Year last Thursday.
The award, which was sponsored and judged by our event partners Duncan & Toplis, sought out students who had strived to improve their academic performance and exhibited the most notable growth in their progress, attitude and disciplined.
Joshua Cook of The Deepings School and Millie MacNally, who is now at Durham University, were named finalists.
Libby, who has been in school since entering Grade 7, is considered an exemplary student in every way.
She has had an almost perfect attendance record over her five years and an attitude towards learning that has been rated as “outstanding.” Libby is a selfless sixth grader, who attends many school performances and supports extracurricular activities organized by the school.
Libby said: “I really like the extracurricular activities they do at school.
“There were a lot of shows, performing arts, dance groups and sports groups in which we were competing with other schools.
“I was in all the teams.
Joshua has been described as a hardworking and conscientious student, while Millie’s determination to realize and realize his true potential has been rated as phenomenal.
The award was one of eleven presented at the Lincolnshire Free Press and Spalding Guardian Education Awards, held last night at the Springfields Events Center in Spalding.
