DURHAM- Duke Senior Women’s Lacrosse Maddie Jenner was selected as a 2022 Division I Preseason All-American Winner, as announced by Inside the butt Tuesday.
The forward and draftsman earned one of 13 first-team spots, marking her second All-American honor ahead of the 2022 roster.
The Annapolis, Maryland native had a very successful junior campaign as she was named a Tewaaraton nominee, an IWLCA All-America Third Team selection and All-ACC First Team.
Jenner continued her dominance of the draw circle in 2021 and concluded her junior year with 187 draw checks, which tops Duke’s all-time individual season chart. Jenner led the ACC with 9.84 draw/game checks and ranked third in the nation and reached a season-high 15 three times, just one of her career highs. In her career, she has amassed 371 total ties as the NCAA’s active career leader in the nation in draw control per game (8.24). She needs 141 draw checks to become Duke’s all-time draw check leader, which is currently owned by her sister, Olivia.
Along with her draw dominance, Jenner has worked hard to contribute to the team beyond the circle. Last season, she had 25 goals and one assist for 26 points, including a career-high four goals in Duke’s wins over William & Mary and Liberty. The 6-2 junior also caught 12 balls on the ground and caused two turnovers while posting a .543 shooting percentage this spring.
Duke opens the season Friday, Feb. 11 against Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m. at Koskinen Stadium. Season passes are available for purchase here.
