Elddis to expand after planners green light for new site


Elddis Transport has obtained approval for new storage and distribution space after the recent acquisition of the former GT Engineering site in Delves Lane, Consett.

The plans, worth nearly £ 1.5million, will secure additional on-site capacity for its warehouse operations and see the installation of a new roof, access doors and a improved parking, as well as refurbished offices and the addition of new dedicated training and meeting rooms. .

The news follows approval earlier this summer for Elddis to continue plans for a new permanent commercial truck and trailer park at Newton Aycliffe on land off Jowett Way, which provides access to shopping centers. local transport and to the main A1M. The planning approval comes after Elddis sold its site at Old Pit Lane near the Arnison Center in Durham to Premcor Estates, which is expanding the site to create a new discount food store and sales units at detail. The funds from this sale are reinvested in the Delves Lane and Newton Aycliffe projects, with the aim of supporting future growth.
