Duke ranked No. 8 in IWLCA poll


DURHAM- Duke’s women’s lacrosse team will start the season ranked eighth in the nation, as announced in the ILWomen/IWLCA Division I poll.

This season, the Blue Devils have to face six ranked opponents. Duke will face No. 1 Boston College, No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Syracuse, No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 11 Virginia and No. 19 Penn.

The head coach Kerstin Kimel returns 10 starters, including six returning grads who will use their final year of NCAA-granted eligibility due to COVID-19.

Graduate student Katie Croninsecond Katie DeSimonegraduate student Catriona Barryjunior Olivia Carner and junior Caroline DeBellis all had 30+ points a season ago and combined for 175 points on the offensive front.

2022 USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-American Forward Maddie Jenner also returns to the draw circle. Last year, she totaled 187 draw checks to lead the ACC with 9.84/game and ranked third in the nation.

Duke opens the season Friday, Feb. 11 against Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m. at Koskinen Stadium. Season tickets are available for purchase here.
