Duke, Learfield and Capitol Broadcasting announce multi-year extension

DURHAM – Duke University Athletics and Learfield’s Blue Devil Sports Properties have signed a multi-year extension with Capitol Broadcasting as the longtime radio house of Duke Athletics.

Buzz Sports Radio, heard in Raleigh on 99.3FM / 620AM and Durham on 96.5FM / 620AM and 99.9HD2, continues to be the flagship network for the Blue Devils topping a list of nearly 50 affiliates across the Carolinas.

“We are committed to covering our local teams and Duke University has been a mainstay of our coverage for nearly 50 years and more,” said Brian Maloney, vice-president, radio division for Capitol Broadcasting. “Duke runs one of the most competitive sports programs in the Triangle and the country. We couldn’t be happier continuing the tradition of providing sports fans with coverage of Duke Athletics.”

Under the new deal, coverage for all home football and men’s basketball games will be extended to start 90 minutes before kick-off or kick-off. In Durham and Raleigh, fans can also stream the matches on WRALSportsFan.com or the WRALSportsFan app.

“Capitol Broadcasting has been an incredible partner with Duke Athletics and this expansion as a flagship station is just another example of the relationship,” said Mike sobb, Duke associate athletic director for the acquisition of resources. “We are delighted to move forward with them for years to come and to appreciate the leadership of Brian Maloney and the entire Capitol family.”
