NEW YORK – With a new season on the horizon, Columbia fencing has unveiled its full roster for the 2022-23 campaign. The Lions will begin collegiate competition next weekend at the Temple Open in Philadelphia from October 29-30.
The following weekend, Columbia had eight games scheduled at the Air Force Invitational (November 5-6) in Colorado Springs. The Lions make their home debut for the Columbia Invitational on Friday, Nov. 18 at Blue Gym at Dodge Physical Center against Johns Hopkins, NJIT and Stevens Institute of Technology. Columbia will then take the rest of the month and December for the North American Cups, Finals and Holidays.
January includes four competitions starting with the Penn State Invitational (January 15) where Columbia will compete in five games. The two teams travel to the St. John’s Super Cup on Jan. 21 for five more head-to-head contests, including the Lions’ first crack against defending national champions Notre Dame. The women will play solo on January 22 at the Penn Invitational for four more matches before the two teams close out the month at the LIU Shark Showcase in Brooklyn on January 29 for five more bouts.
The men will aim to repeat as conference champions, while the women will seek their fourth title in five seasons at the Ivy League round-robin tournaments, which take place Feb. 11-12 at Cornell.
Regular season action wraps up at Blue Gym for the George Kolombotovitch Historical Meet against Sacred Heart, Vassar and NYU on February 15.
Harvard hosts the NCAA Northeast Regional on March 12 and the NCAA Championships will be held March 26-26 in Durham, North Carolina on the campus of Duke University.
