Milburngate have confirmed they have reached an agreement with BrewDog for them to open a venue in the brand new waterfront destination of Durham.
Marking the world-renowned craft brewer’s debut in Durham, the bar will occupy a prime position in Milburngate, overlooking the River Wear and the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The 3,736 square foot unit includes a large outdoor seating area with stunning views of Durham Cathedral and Castle and along the city’s scenic waterfront.

Currently with 67 locations in the UK, in addition to bars in over 20 countries including the US, Spain, Germany, Italy, Australia and Sweden, Milburngate is part of the BrewDog’s continued expansion with dozens more in the works.
Further details about the bar, which will feature BrewDog’s eponymous range of craft beers and food, will be announced in the coming months ahead of the opening date.
BrewDog joins other high-end brands that have chosen Milburngate, including boutique cinema chain Everyman and steak restaurant Bar + Block. They will take place alongside a 93-bed Premier Inn flagship hotel. Other occupants should be announced in the coming weeks.
The first phase of Milburngate will be completed in the fall and will establish the waterfront development as a flagship destination for living, working and playing. Developed by a joint venture between Arlington Real Estate and Richardson, Milburngate will also include 153 built-to-let apartments and contemporary, flexible Class A office space.

Milburngate includes the regeneration of Freemans Reach and the redevelopment of Milburngate House, which sits on the adjacent banks of the River Wear in the heart of Durham city.
