DURHAM- The No. 4 Duke women’s tennis learned of its matchups for the 2023 ITA kick-off weekend after the conclusion of Thursday’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) draft. The Blue Devils are set to host the Durham Regional, welcoming SMU, VCU and Wisconsin to Bull City.
The second-seeded Mustangs will take on third-seeded and 2022 ITA National Indoor Championships host Wisconsin on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center. Seeded Duke will meet fourth-seeded VCU in their first round. Match times are yet to be determined.
The winners of each match will advance to the championship on Sunday, January 29. There will also be a consolation match played on Sunday. The regional winner will advance to the 2023 ITA Indoor National Championships in Seattle, Wash.
The Blue Devils will be one of 15 host sites, seeking to qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships for the 25th time in program history.
SMU concluded the 2021-22 double campaign with an overall record of 15-9, while VCU and Wisconsin posted 18-7 and 17-9 marks, respectively.
