Here are the four main stories in Durham today:

  1. Durham Police have identified the two people killed in a shooting at an apartment complex on Saturday morning. Elijah Hosea Everette and Aaron Michael Bailey were both 25 years old. Investigators said they do not believe the shooting was random, contrary to an initial press release. The police have not released any suspicious information at this time. (CBS17)
  2. Elijah Whitaker has been charged with dog theft after voluntarily surrendering to Durham Sheriff. According to the sheriff’s office, Whitaker was released on unsecured bail. The dog is safe with his littermates and up for adoption. (CBS17)
  3. St. Joseph AME Church in Durham held its Social Justice Sunday to raise awareness of issues affecting the community. On Sunday, Pastor Dr. Jay Augustine focused on access to education and invited civil rights lawyer Dr. Gregory Vincent to speak. (abc11)
  4. Raleigh and Durham have both been ranked among the 25 most active cities in America. The study ranked 116 cities and Durham ranked 24th overall. The ranking took into account 11 metrics tracked, including average hours worked per week, employment rate, and more. (WRAL Tech Wire)
